El primero de enero pasado, el sitio metal-archives.com, anunció que permitirá la entrada a su base de datos a las bandas de música pesada que no tengan grabaciones en formato físico. Sin embargo, quedan aún excluidas aquellas que sólo posean temas aislados, por ejemplo en myspace y youtube.
El sitio es la mayor base de datos de internet en cuanto a recopilación de datos sobre el heavy metal se refiere, excluía a las bandas que sólo poseen grabaciones en formato digital. Sin embargo “desde que la distribución digital se ha extendido más y más, decidimos aceptar aquellos que lancen su música a través de medios digitales”, expresó el administrador Morrigan en la portada del sitio.
Sin embargo, “no significa que aceptemos a bandas con canciones aisladas en youtube y myspace. Sólo se aceptarán bandas con álbumes digitales ´serios´, y se urge a quienes contribuyan con información al sitio que lean las nuevas reglas al respecto”, agregó el comunicado.
Las bandas interesadas pueden comunicarse con alguno de los inscriptos encargados de subir información a metal-archives.com.

### IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL BAND SUBMITTERS ###

As of this new year of 2013, we have now changed our policy concerning the band approval process.

Before today, bands were required to have a physical album before being eligible. Since digital distribution is becoming more and more widespread, we have decided to now accept bands who release their music entirely through digital medium.

However, this does not mean we accept any bands with a few songs on Myspace or Youtube. Only bands with serious digital albums will be accepted. I urge all band contributors to revisit the rules and guidelines page for the details of what kind of digital albums are considered acceptable.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to the contributors who may have recently deleted their drafts of bands which, despite having no physical album, may have had a valid digital album. If you had a very detailed draft and deleted it recently, it might be possible to restore it. Please post in this forum thread about such a matter.

Note that after much time spent rejecting a number of non-metal bands, we have also put in writing some additional examples of what kind of music we do not consider acceptable for this site (j-rock, djent, post-hardcore, etc.). This is not a change of policy, but just a matter of clarification for those confused users out there who may think these styles as metal.

To all our contributors and visitors: thank you again for all the great work, and we hope 2013 will be another great year for the Encyclopaedia as it continues to grow and prove itself to be the greatest online resource for heavy metal.

Hay discos digitales hace banda.. es imposible que controlen si salió la edición fisica o no..

Claro, asi es. Pasa que se extendio tanto ese formato y algunas bandas sacan cosas con tan buena calidad que vale la pena. De ultima las bandas largan pequeñas tiradas... y si es macho o hembra, me importa una concha... digo un pito (?)

El punto es que no aceptaban bandas cuyo unico disco no estuviera editado fisicamente. A lo mejor bandas que sacaban discos online pero ya tenian fisicos antes, ni se fijaban. De hecho para agregar un cd solo tenes que ser colaborador. Para agregar una banda, te la aprueba si o si un moderador. Siempre fue uno de los requisitos principales para aceptar una banda, que tuviera algo editado.
